REFEREEING COURSE MARCH 2023Presenter: Darren Ferguson (nationally-accredited referee)
Where: Charles Sturt Fencing Club - River Street, Hindmarsh. When: Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 March, 1-5pm each day.Option to do Saturday only, or both days.Cost: $35 for both days; Saturday only $20.
Target Audience: fencers who have no experience refereeing (or limited club level experience). Must be 15 years or older. All participants must be licenced with FencingSA. The course is not suitable for parents or club admins who have never fenced before - there will be a level of assumed knowledge that comes with having been on the piste, and been refereed.
NOTE: This course is not intended for referees that already hold a formal qualification (such as AFF, AFC, or FIE), nor referees that do not hold a formal qualification, but would be considered competent. If you are not sure - please contact communications@fencingsa.org.au
Structure: Saturday - Introduction to Refereeing - General rules and penalties - Refereeing epee
Sunday - Review of Day 1 - Refereeing foil
Assessment: those wishing to be assessed (and therefore eligible to referee at State level tournaments) must be available on Sunday 2 April 2023 to undertake a practical assessment at the U9/U11/U13 competition. This assessment will involve refereeing both foil and epee events while being observed.
